MAA LO LO WA is one of the scariest streams in the Kor community. There are crocodiles, big snakes, and fishes that people were not allowed to eat.
It is said that anyone who eats fish from this stream would be cursed because the stream is a deity. It serves as a place of purification when there is a traditional rite in the community and also a place of power during war. This was one reason why no community could defeat Kor in war. During the Biafra and Nigeria war, people from some parts of Ogoni ran to it for safety.
The stream is not connected to any other stream or river; it comes from the ground.
It was very scary Those days; if you came to the stream to fetch water and any fish was seen in your bucket, you would return the fish to the stream.
And fishes in the river were not scare of human, you will see fishes coming around you instead of running as other streams fishes do.
Women on their monthly flow did not come or cross the stream. It is one of the most respected streams in Kor back then.
